Spanish Steps Apartment

Positive: Location is perfect, maybe the best one in Rome. Negative: The location is probably one of the best in Rome, but there are several important things that should be clearly disclosed before booking. Access involves a very narrow spiral staircase for an entire floor, making it difficult to carry luggage. The lift is extremely small — essentially for one person, and a large suitcase barely fits. Inside, another very narrow spiral staircase connects the tiny bedroom and kitchen area with the terrace. The bathroom is exceptionally small: the toilet is pressed against the bidet with almost no space between them, and the sink partially hangs over the toilet. The bedroom has a large window but no proper blackout curtains, which makes sleeping difficult once it gets light. There were also practical problems. The gas stove had no automatic ignition, but no matches or lighter were provided, so we bought lighters ourselves and left them for future guests. Dishes and cutlery were so well hidden that we only found them after contacting the host. Finally, the apartment looks considerably more worn in reality than it does in the photos. None of these issues would necessarily be a deal-breaker if they were clearly disclosed in advance. The location is excellent, but guests should be given an accurate description so they can make an informed choice.

Buena Ubicación!! Positive: Sin duda para aquellos que quieran pasar su estancia en Piazza Spagna, la ubicación de este lugar es la indicada, dado que esta a 20 metros de la fuente y los primeros escalones. En cuanto a lugar en sí, hay que considerar algunos puntos. En primer lugar para aquellos que viajen con valijas, deben saber que llegar al ascensor requiere de subir un piso por escalera. El ascensor en si, no es apto para claustrofóbicos o personas con sobre peso. Literalmente si uno sube le da miedo, dado que el espacio es muy reducido y totalmente cerrado. Cuando se llega al 4 piso (si uno se animo por el ascensor) , resta subir por escalera un piso y medio mas. El departamento son tres plantas, en la primera esta la cocina con una mesa pequeña y dos sillas, que es donde dejamos las valijas, dado que subirlas al dormitorio era imposible por el espacio que tiene la escalera que lleva al dormitorio. Y si uno igual decidiera intentarlo, luego no tendría espacio para caminar en el dormitorio. Luego para llegar a la terraza se necesita subir por una escalera mas incomoda que la anterior, donde tiene una puerta de techo, que al principio hasta entender el mecanismo no resulta fácil de hacerlo. La terraza es el punto fuerte dado que la vista da sobre la ultima parte de la escalinata y la vista de la Santísima Trinidad del Monte. La terraza tiene una mesa y dos sillas, con almohadas que tuvimos que limpiarlas porque estaban llenas de polvo. Nos quedamos sin agua caliente para la ducha al día siguiente que llegamos, le escribímos al personal, y a lo largo del día pudieron resolverlo. En resumen el lugar vale por la ubicación y la vista final de la escalinata, pero por el espacio/escaleras/ascensor es la parte que de regresar a roma, no lo elegiría nuevamente. Negative: Escaleras, ascensor!!!

Positive: The location of this appartment is outstanding, you get beautiful views of the Spanish steps from every room as well as the terrace. The appartment itself is very small but very cleverly designed so it doesn't feel too small. It will especially suite people who enjoy sailing as the decor and space saving solutions are very reminiscent of a sailing boat. The stair are a little tight so probably only suitable for physically able people. What it lacks in space it more than makes up with the location and views. A truly remarkable stay in the centre of historic Rome!

Great for a short stay and brilliant location Positive: Brilliant location Negative: I didn’t really like the setup. Bedroom upstairs was tiny and the kitchen area and entry weren’t functional.
